We have objected to plans by Playfootball Ltd to build football pitches with a pavilion and car park on Hammersmith Park in west London. Playfootball has submitted a planning application to the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

We are concerned that the development will take more than one-third of the public park which is enjoyed by the public as a quiet, green space, a tranquil haven in a busy, noisy part of London.

This open space is immensely precious to the local population, and to people who work here, as a place for restful enjoyment in beautiful surroundings.

The proposal will generate a great deal of traffic, putting even greater stress on this small green area. The plan to cut down 24 mature trees and demolish lawns and flower-beds will destroy a significant part of this attractive park.

Objections must be submitted to Hammersmith & Fulham Council by 19 December, reference 2013/04980/FUL.
