We have objected to a planning application for sports facilities on a green space at Ive Farm, Leyton in Waltham Forest.

The development includes two outdoor sports pitches, a spring track, volleyball arena, pavilion, seating, floodlighting and car parking.

We that this will suburbanise land which is an extensive green space enjoyed by local people for informal recreation.

This extensive natural green space is a vital asset for the community and should be protected.  People have long been accustomed to roam freely here.  The development, with sports pitches, pavilion, car-parking and floodlighting, will suburbanise it and destroy its special qualities.  It will only be available for use by a limited section of the population instead of being open to all.

We are backing our member Save Lea Marshes in fighting the plan.
