At the instigation of the Open Spaces Society, Richmond Villages have published the following advertisement in this week’s Witney Gazette inviting the public to visit its development site and see the position of two proposed new paths and a town green.
PUBLIC NOTICE
INVITATION TO THE PUBLIC
The land between Thorney Leys and Curbridge Road is being developed by Richmond Care Villages. As a result the public footpath across the site has been obstructed and closed.
Following discussion with the Open Spaces Society, Richmond now proposes two footpaths across the site: (a) a diversion of the existing path and (b) a new path leading to a pedestrian-controlled crossing of Thorney Leys.
At the Society’s suggestion Richmond has also agreed to register as town green an area of open space linked to both paths, thus opening it to the public and protecting it against future development.
You are invited to visit the development to see the routes of the new and old paths and the position of the town green on Saturday 5th November and Saturday 12th November from 2pm to 4pm and on Sunday 6th November and Sunday 13th November from 10am to 4pm.
As the site is still under construction, the footpaths and open space are not expected to be complete until Spring 2017.
