We have objected to plans from Kent County Council to erect a new primary school on open land at Benenden in the Weald of Kent. The proposed development is to the south of Rolvenden Road.

This is a prominent, elevated spot which is visible for miles around. The development will suburbanise this attractive village, and the proposed lighting will make it particularly intrusive.

There are three footpaths crossing the site, which provide good access within the village. One of them is part of the High Weald Landscape Trail. We believe that the new primary school should be sited in a less sensitive place.
