Commons Training Day

Support us from £3/month

We deal with almost 1000 cases a year assisting communities, groups and individuals in protecting their local spaces and paths in all parts of England and Wales. Can you help us by joining as a member?

We will be running a training day with Footprint Ecology on Wednesday 27 June which  is designed to help land managers and others with an interest in commons to understand their rights and responsibilities and how to go about preparing for, and taking forward, management planning and works on common land.

It will be run by our general secretary,  Kate Ashbrook,  and Dr John Day  of Footprint Ecology who have recently been instrumental in revising ‘A Common Purpose’, written guidance on public consultation on management of commons. The Open Spaces Society was, in addition, commissioned by Natural England to produce Finding Common Ground (2010) which sets out how to take account of the public interest in determining management solutions for commons. Natural England has also published a series of fact sheets commissioned from Footprint Ecology on all aspects of managing commons for the use of local communities and groups.
