Open Spaces Society is a charity. We need your help to fight for the open spaces you love.
Is your village green, common or local path under threat? Do you have a favourite open space that needs saving? We can help you protect them.
We’re the UK’s oldest conservation charity. We’ve been protecting open spaces for people to cherish and enjoy in England and Wales since 1865.
We campaign for stronger protection for village greens, commons and paths. We believe everyone has the right to enjoy the open spaces that matter to them. If you agree, join us!
Every day, precious open spaces that matter to people are coming under threat. Development, neglect, change of use are all putting the spaces we care about at risk. As the UK’s only charity dedicated to saving open spaces, we need your help!

Due to the continued spread of Covid-19, and following the latest Government advice, the society has decided that staff will work remotely from Thursday 19 March. We shall be posting a notice to this effect on our website and on our telephone answering service. We shall not therefore be responding to telephone calls, and there will be a delay in our response to voicemail messages so it will be best to contact us by email. We can also be contacted via our website at https://www.oss.org.uk/contact/. A staff member will monitor incoming post to the office on a weekly basis and deal with any matters arising including membership cheques, and the answerphone messages.
We have not taken this decision lightly, but the safety and well-being of staff are of the utmost importance to us. We shall keep you all informed if there are any updates or changes to this.
We wish you all the best in these very difficult times.
