The fight for Flintshire open space

We have opposed plans to use part of an open space, at Bradshaw Avenue, Saltney Ferry, for a replacement scout hut and associated works with fencing. The society has objected to Flintshire County Council, the planning authority.

This proposal would reduce the informal playing area on this open space by 60 per cent, and the plans to enclose the hut for private rather than public use would result in the loss of open space.

This is the only recreational area in Saltney Ferry and, as the council itself admits, it is ‘a locally valued playing field’. It is indeed well used by local people, including young people who badly need open spaces for fresh air and recreation.
