We have called on Brent Council’s planners to produce a supplementary paper for the council’s planning meeting on Tuesday (2 August) to report on the state of the illegally blocked footpath across the prestigious Northwick Park golf course.

Their paper to the meeting gives councillors an update on planning issues at Northwick Park. It refers to two public footpaths on the site, indicating that the only problems are litter and planting.

Says Kate Ashbrook, our general secretary: ‘The officers have ignored the fact that an important public footpath across the site, number 37/34, is illegally obstructed by fences and the driving range. No one would want to risk walking across that.

‘We have met Leisure Golf and the council and hope that there may be an amicable engineering solution, but this is all taking far too long. It is surprising that the planners haven’t even mentioned this in their report.

‘The footpath is illegally blocked, and the council has a legal duty to open it. We trust the officers will report the situation to members and inform them of the action being taken to resolve this issue,’ Kate declares.
