As you know from our other website pages you are welcome to join us without any obligation to be active in any manner, and your support is very much appreciated.

However the Open Spaces Society is busy on the ground through a number of our members who have expressed to the executive committee the wish to become what we call local correspondents.

The applicants choose their territory (which normally conforms to a local authority boundary). They are appointed to cover our constitutional concerns as they arise in their chosen territories. Correspondents have a high degree of autonomy, are carefully chosen and report to the executive committee quarterly.

During the period of their appointment, the Open Spaces Society's local correspondents communicate on our behalf with many local organisations, members of the public, local authorities and landowners, and just about anyone and everyone in their territory who may be acting to the advantage or detriment of the public interests we seek to serve.

But our local correspondents are not merely locally active in the defence of our constitutional objectives. Some have e-mail addresses, and some have websites to which you may link directly, giving information about the local campaigns they have initiated and actions they are pursuing on our behalf.
