ROBERT PEEL

Robert was lucky enough to secure early retirement from advising Ministers on tax policy at the age of 51 when the Inland Revenue merged with HM Customs and Excise in 2005 and now spends most of his time working for a wide range of charities.

As a keen walker and regular cyclist, he particularly wants to contribute to a real improvement in the facilities available to walkers and cyclists, including rights of way and open spaces. His continuing role as Treasurer of Kent Area of the Ramblers’ Association and his new role as Treasurer of the Open Spaces Society are just two of several opportunities he is pursuing to achieve this objective. He hopes that his roles in both organisations will extend well beyond ensuring that the finances are soundly managed and allow him to make a significant contribution to their wider objectives. As well as his financial and legal skills, Robert brings expertise in project management and building successful information technology systems.
