| BEN ASTON | |
It was to
save Cookham Moor, a local common managed by the National Trust, from
vehicular access, that brought Ben Aston to the Society. He made the
protection of commons the subject of a successful motion at the AGM, and the
sustainable management of National Trust commons, and commons in general,
has been a continuing interest. He notes the way that open space has moved up the political agenda at the local, national and European levels and the many organisations working in related fields. He has taken this and the many other sector changes into account in supporting the Executive Committee in its governance and forward thinking. As a member of the web site working party he is alert to the use of technology for the Society such as the information systems for supporting the community management of urban green space in New York. Ben has engaged in industrial research and management education, taken overseas assignments in environmental health and worked with the European Commission. He has served in the Territorial Army and has set up a small adventure charity. |
